McCarren Pool Regular Snow-Washed Tee

Opened in the summer of '36, McCarren Pool was one of eleven Depression-era WPA pools built across the city–and the biggest of them all, made to hold 6,800 swimmers at once. Mayor La Guardia himself showed up for opening day. Decades later, after sitting shuttered for almost 30 years, it came back to life as a concert venue before reopening as a pool again in 2012. This tee carries a piece of that history on the front with a photo of the pool taken one year after it opened for the first time in 1936, in 1937.
